The United States Constitution includes directives for carrying out a census of the population every 10 years.

Census Maps - Online and In the Library

Census maps cover numerous themes. Many are based on data culled from the decennial censuses (these include maps on percentage of population change, primary home heating fuel, number of workers who commute, etc.) Others show the geographical boundaries designated by the Census Bureau.
