Census Information: Women-Owned Businesses

The United States Constitution includes directives for carrying out a census of the population every 10 years.

About the Women-Owned Businesses

This was first done as a special project in 1972 and became a part of the Economic Census in 1977. It was classified separately (C 3.250) for the years 1977, 1987, and 1992. Starting in 1997, it is classified in the Economic Census (C 3.277/3).
