Using AI For...
You can use AI in various ways:
- To brainstorm:
- keywords to use when you search an article database?
- structure or outline of a paper (if you already have it from the instructor, use that instead)
- categories of resources needed
- citation mapping tools on a topic to find major articles and their connections
-
- To supplement:
- AI may unearth articles on page 10 of Google search results that you may never see
- ask AI to provide pros and cons to incorporate different perspectives
- To refine:
- grammatical revision
- tone change
- To assess:
- upload the rubric to AI to see if you have have hit all the points
- ask AI to evaluate your first or final draft for suggestion
Don't use AI for...
Don't use AI to:
- Write your paper, posting, etc
- your professor will intuitively know if your writing is drastically different from your speech
- your citations or content could be hallucinations and cost you everything for "cheating"
- offloading your cognitive capabilities means you will learn nothing
- Do your research
- proprietary databases like IBISWorld or Mintel are usually not uploaded to AI as training materials
- AI can hallucinate so you always need to check for accuracy, oftentimes by doing your own research
- part of the college journey is to learn how to do independent research and critical thinking
