Challenge Library Guide: Annotated Bibliography

What does an annotation do?

An annotation of an article, book, or other material includes three things:

  • summary of a work;
  • Assessment of the relevance of  the work;
  • Reflection on the work.

Annotations are not written by the author(s) of a work; yet the author(s) write the abstract of a scholarly article. In the case of this class, annotations will be written by you. You should use their own words to summarize the article, critically evaluate its relevance to your topic, and reflect on the work.
