After you find a useful book, scroll down to the "Details" heading to find the book's "Subjects." Here you'll find a list of related subjects that you might consider adding to your search. You can also click on a subject link in the record, e.g. clicking on "Environmental tocixology" would bring up a list of all the Library's books, journals, etc. on that topic.  

How to find eBooks in the Library Catalog

We collect eBooks whenever possible. After you execute a search in the Portland State Library catalog, click on the "eBooks" facet to limit your search results to only ebooks.

Browse for Books in the Library

Sometimes browsing the library stacks can help you find books you didn't even know you were looking for. The following are good areas to peruse.

Basement:

GE: Environmental Sciences

5th Floor:

QH: Biology/Environmental Ecology

R:   Medicine

RA: Public aspects of medicine/Environmental health

RC: Internal medicine

RM: Therapeutics, Pharmacology 

RT:  Nursing

Requesting Books from Summit

When you find an item in the catalog that has a Find & Request link, then the book or video is checked out or not in our collection.

  • You can request the book by clicking on Find & Request, then select Request from Summit (a partnership of academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho).
  • It takes approximately five days to receive an item through Summit.
  • When your item is available for check out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk, you will be notified by PSU email.
