Tours and Workshops

Need a general overview of the Library and what it offers?

Library Tours are available every Tuesday at 11:00 am and Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Come to the Circulation Desk where you check out books on the 1st Floor for a fun, informative half-hour tour that will save you time throughout the academic year.

Group Rooms

Family Study Room, Group Study Rooms,  and Presentation Rooms

The Portland State Library has over 40 study rooms for you to use for your group work including a Family Study Room for parents who bring their children to the Library. Also, there are two student-only, state-of-the-art presentation rooms where you can rehearse your presentations in a business meeting setting. On the third floor, you can watch videos and films with your fellow students. Here are a few rules:

  •  no renewals; the group must wait 30 minutes before checking out another room;
  •  a child must be present to check out the Family Study Room;
  •  for an extra-large study room, at least 5 members of your group must be present to check out;
  •  keys not returned on time will accrue late charges and may be billed for replacements.

Check out books from the PSU Library

Search the PSU WorldCat. The book is indicated as Available at the PSU Library like this:

Write down the call number and location, pick it up from the shelves, and check it out at the Circulation Desk (1st floor). If the book is not available from the Portland State Library, you can order it from SUMMIT, and if not available from SUMMIT, request it through Interlibrary Loan.

Looking for a Quiet Place to Study?

The fourth and fifth floors of the library are designated Quiet Floors, so they're a great place to go if you really need to concentrate. The basement, first, second, and third floors are more conducive to group study and conversation.

Overdue Notices & Your Responsibilities

  • Know when borrowed items are due;
  • Return or renew materials on time;
  • Know Library policies;
  • Be financially responsible for items on your account;
  • Photo ID is required for renewing and checking out materials;
  • Check your pdx.edu email address for library notices.
