Links to Library content in D2L: Overview

Overview- Setting up reading lists in D2l

Setting up links to online articles, book chapters, or streamed videos allows you to provide your students with access to assigned course materials and comply with copyright law and accessibility considerations. Linking is a better practice than copying and uploading course readings into a course shell on D2L.

The process of setting up the links requires several steps, some on the Library-licensed content side and some on the D2L LMS side.

In a nutshell:

  • Find the permanent URL for the Library-licensed content you want to assign.
  • Add the Library's proxy prefix to that URL. (This step is necessary so that students who are navigating to the content from off campus will be offered authentication (via their Odin credentials) and then access to the resources.)
  • Construct the links properly in D2L.

The purpose of this guide is to walk you through  those steps.
