Judaic Studies: Books

Resources for researching Judaic Studies

Finding Books in the Library Catalog

Start by searching the PSU Library Catalog. With this catalog, you can simultaneously search Portland State and Summit (a regional catalog of 30+ libraries in Oregon and Washington). The results will be color coded with PSU items indicated with a green dot while Summit items will have a yellow dot. A gray dot indicates that the item is currently checked out or, if it is an article, we may not have full-text.

Subject headings start with a main subject. When typing a single subject into the catalog subject heading search, you will retrieve an alphabetical list of subject headings. These subject headings are usually made up of a main heading followed by subdivisions. Some examples appear below.

If you find an item held by a Summit library, click the Find & Request tab. From here, you can request the item using the Request from Summit link and follow the directions on the screen.

If you cannot find what you need in the, then you might try WorldCat. WorldCat contains more than 30 millions records for materials cataloged by the Library of Congress and OCLC member libraries, including most academic and many public libraries in the U.S. Catalog includes books, serials (journals, magazines and newspapers), musical scores, recordings, videos, computer software, films, maps and manuscripts.
