Media / Librarianship: Books

PSU Library Catalog - Books

Results include both print and ebooks, available from Portland State Library and the Summit Libraries.

Requesting Books from Summit

A Find & Request link under the title means that the book is not in our collection or is checked out, but is likely held at one of our partner libraries.

You can request the book by clicking on Find & Request and selecting Request from Summit.

It takes approximately five days to receive an item through Summit.

Requesting Books through ILL

If a book is not available in our collection or Summit, often we can still get it for you!

Just request it through Interlibrary Loan.

Please note: it can take up to 12 days to receive a book through interlibrary loan.

Using Subject Headings to Search for Books

Subject headings allow you to search library catalogs for materials on a particular topic.

Often subject heading searching can be more productive than searching by simple keywords.

Listed here are some major subject headings of interest for research in school media and librarianship.

If you want to find other subject headings just ask a reference librarian .

Where are Media and Librarianship Books in the Library?

The PSU Library uses the Library of Congress classification system. Material on education is generally classed in the Ls. Material on libraries and librarianship is classed in the Zs.

Physical browsing of library stacks is a different mode of discovery than keyword catalog searches. Additionally local online catalogs often support call number searching which allows you to virtually browse the stacks.
